History
In 1991, Ortopóvoa rises as a business in the area of oral health, thus responding to the needs for a larger space and orthodontic quality services provided to an increasing number of patients.
With a well-prepared staff, exclusive laboratory and up-to-date/modern equipment, Ortopóvoa wagers on quality since its foundation.
For eight years Ortopóvoa Lda had its headquarters at Rua Manuel Silva, n. º 13 r/c, in the city of Póvoa de Varzim (from December 1991 to September 1998).
The Clinical Director, Afonso Pinhão Ferreira, is full professor at the University of Porto and has been practicing dental medicine since 1982. He is a specialist in orthodontics and was the first dentist to dedicate exclusively to orthodontics nationwide in 1989.
The Clinic has had an evolutionary course totally adapted to the curricular path and professional qualification of its Clinical Director and collaborators, as well as to the market demands in oral health.
The Clinical Director, Professor Dr. Afonso Pinhão Ferreira provided dental and orthodontic services (from 1982 to 1991) and exclusively orthodontic services from 1991 to 2008.
In 2008, he decided to invest in a new project called:
ORTOPÓVOA – Clínica de Ortodontia e Reabilitação Orofacial, Lda.
For this reason, Ortopóvoa Lda launched the construction of a totally new clinic, with advanced aims:
- Create a working system based on systematic application of a GLOBAL treatment methodology in each clinical case;
- Methodologically structure the planning of orthodontic interdisciplinary orofacial rehabilitation treatment both in aesthetic and functional terms;
- To value seduction as a primary aim in facial expression, as a contribution to self-esteem and a path for the patient’s social and professional well-being.
In fact, the Clinical Staff choose to study each patient considering their capacity for seduction with facial expression, through the facial harmonization, the aesthetics of the teeth and smile, all valuing the functional effectiveness of the stomatognathic apparatus. For that, it needed post-graduate dental doctors and specialists to integrate the clinical staff, namely: oral surgery, maxillofacial surgery, fixed prosthesis, implantology and periodontics.
In 2017 Ortopóvoa was invited to join a network of dental clinics called Best Quality Dental Centers.
At the moment, Ortopóvoa has a folder/file of about 11,800 patients.
